A brilliant plant...
Special consideration is given to the ecological effect and transparency of our production. We are very passionate about making sure that the linen fibre has been grown in an ethical and sustainable way. Which is why, in conclusion, our flax is grown in Europe, mainly in France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Benefits of linen-flax
Flax has been growing for thousands of years, and always with a great respect for the environment. Flax is a plant that grows naturally and withstands barren, dry ground. There are no chemicals involved in growing linen-flax, as the plant itself is very frugal. When planting and growing flax, you don't need to install wasteful watering-systems or use any fertilizer.
Comparing this plant to others might shock you! Cotton, for example, needs around 11.000 liters of water per kilo.
The yarn production
After harvesting the flax, the fibre-winning-process begins. The fibres are turned into a variation of high quality yarns in Italy.
Linen yarns
Vieböck purchases many different variations of linen yarns.
(dyed, bleached, natural, fine, rough, thick,...)
The essence of weaving.
The meaning of life - and weaving - is to never lose sight of the (red) string.
Where all yarns meet...
Our work is encapsulated under the mantra ‘The Essence of Weaving’. We strive to achieve the finest quality, creative innovation and individuality - which is why we refuse to sell any other products, but our own. We represent the brand ‘Weavery in Mühlviertel’ with deciation and pride. Our roots are anchored in this region, which has been shaped by the history and culture of linen weaving.
Every single centimeter...
... of a fabric is checked in our quality- and correction department. Our colleagues look for every fibre-break and fault and correct them immediately.
The fabrics are put into categories and recorded by our company-software.
The finishing touches.
In our iconic Vieböck-VW-bus, the raw fabrics are transported to "Textilveredelung Gmünd", which is around 90 kilometers away from Helfenberg. There, our fabrics are washed, dyed and processed mechanically.
Because of the brilliant work at TVG, you are able to purchase the softest possible linen fabrics from us. There are no aggressive bleaching or washing techniques involved in the finishing process.
Weavers and seamstresses in our own walls.
The pre-washed fabrics are either sold by the metre, or turned into high-quality hometextiles by our seamstresses.
